For this project, Jacob Vega and I researched the reasoning behind why there is violence in Ice Hockey. We researched the meaning behind the violence, the history of fighting, and why it should either stay or if rules should be made to ban it.
English Portion
For our english reflection, we found reasoning behind why fighting is in the NHL. We talked about pros and cons of fighting staying in the NHL, after extensive research we found that there are more pros than cons. We came to the conclusion that fighting should stay in the NHL, it is better for it to stay than leave.
For our art portion, we decided to use an old goalie stick of mine, and we painted it all black. After that, we put different symbols representing different things. The reason we painted it black is because the color black represents power. Most teams in one way or not are viewed to have power and strength over the other teams. Which revolves around fighting
Ribbon - We put a blue #1 ribbon on to represent loyalty, players are loyal to the unwritten code of fighting
Mouth Guard - The mouth guard has red paint on it to symbolize blood which is a result of fighting in hockey. It also symbolizes bad blood between teammates from opposing teams as a result of fighting. Band-aid - We put a green band-aid on to represent healing, safety, well being, this represents finding a way to stop the violence in the NHL, which some people don’t agree with fighting.
Boxing Gloves - We put on orange boxing gloves to represent aggression and the punches thrown in fights.
